G-4 Super Galeb was designated to replace the earlier G-2A Galeb in basic, advanced and combat training role in Yugoslav Air Force.
Development programme started 1973. and first flight of prototipe was in July 1978., followed by small batch (6 examples) of pre-production aircraft by December 1980. Series production version flew in prototype form in December 1979. Series production started in 1983. and total delivery quotes to date are about ninety examples.
From October 1984, G-4 was operated by Yugoslav Air Force training and fighter-bomber units and, from 1990.by aerobatic team.
In 1991., six examples were delivered to Burma Air Force (Myanmar).
G-4 is subsonic, single engine, tandem two-seat military trainer and light attack aircraft, equipped with Martin-Baker Mk.Yu.10LB ejection seats and powered by Rolls-Royce Viper 632 turbojet engine.
This modell represented aircraft from 252.lbae (lovačko-bombarderska avijacijska eskadrila – fighterbomber eskadrille) before citizens wars 1991.
