For years I have enjoyed the looks of the L.E.T. LF-107 "LunaK" as a model Subject...I have the 1/48th scale "Modela" issue, however 1/48th is not my preferred scale. Recently, I acquired a copy of the 1/72nd scale AZ Model kit from a very good friend and "Master Modeler". The kit is a beautiful representation of the aircraft, and comes with markings for several different aircraft, unfortunately none of the decals supplied are for this very rare bird.. This kit rekindled my interest in building a model of this sailplane.

At the 2016 International Vintage Sailplane Museum's (I.V.S.M.) Regatta, held at Harris, Hill New York, U.S.A. to my total surprise, a trailer opened up to reveal a full scale "LUNAK"! Needless to say I took many photos of this rare bird as well as the time to meet the owner/pilot. We became friends. and he related the story of how this bird still exists and how it came to the United States...So filled with inspiration, including 2 pages of photos published in issue No. 96 of Novinky, I had to build a model of the only flyable "LUNAK" in the United States.

As far as changes or corrections to the AZ model...there were none required, or at least none that would be noticed in this scale...AZ Models has produced an excellent kit! However, there were many modifications included in the build for presentation purposes, including the Cutting of all flight control surfaces, Detailing the cockpit, cutting the canopy and installing it in the open position, Developing the artwork and making each of the decals and lettering on the full scale aircraft.

Předpokládám, že jsou ve dvaasedmdesátince a měl bych o ně zájem

I am not trying to be difficult however, the decals were made from the photographs taken of the full scale "Lunak", imported and reduced in scale with "CorelDraw" and printed with a Brother Laser printer...So if the decals are wrong then the photos are also wrong???

We really appreciate that you selected a czech-built aircraft for your model!
However the decal font is incorrect. I'm afraid you did not take the picture perspecive into account. For example 7 should not be rounded and both 8 and 3 should be vertically symmetric, etc.

Yes, I see now, Thank You for identifying these errors...I totally missed that. I will strive to be more perfect in my next build...however,.."No model is perfect!" and for that matter, no full scale aircraft is either.

Art - you have to get used to that the Czech model is the biggest critic !!!

Misto abyste ocenili že nekdo za mořem stavi ceské modely v ceských barvách, tak akorat prudite kvuli fontu pisma na křidlech.
Misto abyste pochválili Artovo samo domo odlévaný kluzák Schiroco, Pionýr apod, ktere jsou o kus niže, jen remcáte.....

I do not mind constructive criticism, please understand this! I even agreed with it, in my early post! )

This continued going back and forth is absolutely useless! It serves no purpose to continue.

However, in response I have a few thoughts...You tell me that my registration numbers are of incorrect shape and size, I accept this. You even add a drawing of what you believe to be the correct shape and size...that is fine however, your "7" is also completely wrong, look at the photos...there is no downward vertical extension on the front of the "7"...so you would have me correct 1 error, and replace it with another?

Also, regarding your negative comments on another model builder...as it was once said to me..."Never mistake kindness for weakness!" Nuff said on that.

I regret to write in English, as I do not speak Czech and to read the comments I use the "GOOGLE TRANSLATOR".

In closing, I ask humbly, May we see your built 1/72nd scale "Lunak" model?

Tento 53. vyrobený Luňák OK-0837 létal od roku 1951 v severočeském kraji, mj. v mém domovském aeroklubu na Rané do roku 1973. Znovu byl zprovozněn počátkem devadesátých let soukromým majitelem. Záhy byl pod imatrikulací OK-0800 prodán do USA.
Podobný osud potkal většinu Luňáků po generálních opravách. Letecké úřady mimo ČR tehdy totiž samozřejmě povolovaly jejich provoz v akrobatickém režimu podle původní dokumentace. Tato situace je ale už dnes trochu jiná.
V současnosti jsou v Česku provozovány tři letuschopné kluzáky LF-107 Luňák (Frýdlant, Medlánky, Plasy), z toho dva s částečným povolením pro akrobacii. Dva Luňáci (Prievidza, Bratislava) létají též na Slovensku.

Dobrý den. Předpokládám, že jsou to OK-0819 (Frýdlant), OK-0817 (Medlánky) a OK-0820 (Plasy).

Ano souhlasí. A ty slovenské jsou OM-0907 Prievidza a 0972 Bratislava (Trnava).
