Hi Stephane, nice article, but you forgot US version of this Jerrycan. Looks again the same, but have USA letters stamped. I am able to snap the one, if you are interested. It is most probably British production for Europenan part of US Army.

I found info somewhere, that Germans are not inventors of this Jerrycan, but they accepted it from Italian Army, do you know something aout it?

I work only the german jerrycans (it's the beginning and there is a lot of works about...). I think the american model is more different to not be present on the page.
I don't know if the italians are the inventors of jerrycans. But a german very first model with this markings exits.

No no. you are mixing up two different jerrycans. Standard US jerrycan is absolutely different in shape and construction, but there is one absolutely the same as German and British one, only with different stamping. My frend has some in his Jeep. I'll snap one and send you some photos.

Hi Stephane, I didn't forget on US jerrycans. I visited my friend today and I was surprised, that I was thinking bed. He doesn't have this jerrycan, he has only standard US ones, British and German. But never mind, he knows two frends in Czech Rep. they have these jerrycans. My frend phoned to one of them and he promised to bring the jerrycan and I will snap it for you. Just be patient, it will take some time.

Hi Stephane, finally I have photos for you. This jerrycan is from personal collection of Mr. Jiří Šourek, his brother has the second one. Year of production 1945, something like FN logo in the middle (maybe Belgian FN firm production?). Original colour was standard OD - visible below USA stencil.
