ya-gabor píše:Hi Marian Holly,
- Yes, I did contact Airfix immediately when the first CAD images were released. They were not interested in any comments! Behind scenes more happened than what was posted on different forums.![]()
- In January 2019 the detailed sprue breakdown was already handed and in making at the Hong Kong toolmakers so any change was impossible.
- Have no idea why Tom was selected for this project, yes I have read the article about his work. This was his very first solo project.
- This MiG-17 kit is NOT a Major Project within the company. It is a side project. A Vulcan, the Buccaneer or Phantom . . . is a major project.
- Kit manufacturing Companies DO apologize or say “Sorry we made a mistake” and make corrections, issue new sprues or completely redesign and produce the kit again from scratch. There are examples for each of them. It is not a childish expectation.
Best regards
Gabor
1. So you tried, good for you and the cause. May be you should have tried harder if you had inside information as you indicate?
3. If you read "between the lines" in that article they wanted somebody young (unbiased?), well trained in CAD and give him the chance to develop, sadly, for you, they picked Mig-17 (no one seemed to be seriously disappointed with the kit flaws you presented on ARC)
4. There should be no surprise to you that British company is focusing more on their own aircraft
5. Yes but this is VERY rare and you are primarily talking about Eduard. GWH did it once with 1/48 Mig-29 kit. I haven't heard about Tamiya, Hasegawa, Revell or Trumpeter to apologize for their mistakes.
Apologize to whom, whole world? People coming here, or Hyperscale, or ARC or whatever forum are hardly core market for them.
Bottom line-I risk the statement that vast majority of modelers don't give a squat about 1/72 Mig-17. Those who do will build the best available which is Airfix kit or wait for a better one to appear one day.
Pre tych co neovladaju anglictinu.
Moje odpovede boli smerovane hlavne Gaborovi. Ak neviete pouzit google translate mozete si zobrat kurzy anglictiny. Mne to tiez same do hlavy nenaskakalo. Tak ako rustina, polstina, nemcina a spanielcina.

The problems I have shown are documented with photos of the real aircraft for comparison. It is difficult to argue with them.
asi si půjdu plácat játra do chlívku Eduard třeba o modelech Special hobby.
