Avia BH-3

Dobrý den!

I would like to share with you the progress of my 1/48 Avia BH-3.
by looking on the forum I found, but to late soem premium informations about the layout of the cockpit of this nice small aircraft.
I'm now in the process of light modifications to try to conform a little bit more the inside of the model to the plans .
One thing is anyway sure, I will keep the floor, and the seat and the joystik as they are now.
I changed the position of the "syringe" and add a compass, a magneto ignitor and the command for the radiator. I will make some other pictures when I finished the new layout.

I used plasticart for the side panels and some photoetched parts for the seat and seatbelts. Joystik is done with coper wire and metal sheet.

Thanks for your comments friends. I add some pictures of the last work.
After I find on the forum a draw of the cockpit I modify a little bit the layout of cockpit and lateral panels.

Hello all,

I made some progress in the BH.3 construction, and I try to modelize the retractable radiator. Moreover as I have seen on a plan of the BH.3 (downloaded on this forum) the piece of the kit is to wide.

At first I find a photoetch hexagonal net with 0.3mm holes.
I cut in the photoetch regular parts with my "template". In fact a plastic stop glued on a metal block. Another plastic part is used as a rule.

After that I build my radiator by stacking the photoetched parts. For this I used another "template" to be sure that the holes are aligned.

The photoetched parts are glued together with a cyano gel (gel is important to avoid a to liquid glue that will fill the hole).
A little bit of work wit a file, a folded brass piece around the photoetched parts, et voilà. A new radiator at the left and the original one at the right.

What do you win with that ?
The radiator is "transparent" as you can see on the last picture

Some news (since time )
At first I opened holes for small a view on the motor and localisation of the radiator

And then buil an optic cache for a part of the motor. On the final paint job I put the BMW sigle on the right way

I work on wings too to give the diedral and the small gap from wings to fuselage. I had to remove resin in respect with the fuselage curve and the diedral at the root of the wing. So I made a template for this job.

The model is heavy, and the resin legs of the undercariage will be certainly to flexible to support the weight of the finished model. So I made news from brass.

I saw from this point that I made a mistake for the deign of the legs as i use pictures from a BH.5 for the undercariage legs, and it seem that the suspension system was a little bit different. I changed the shape of the legs and welded the parts. (I still need deburring welds )

I work too to finalize the radiator and made a couple of pictures during a "test fitting" session.
