Hansa Brandenburg W20 - 1/32 OMEGA models

Few days ago i started work on something different, than usual 32 scale kit, resin flying boat produced by Czech Omega Models, Hansa Brandenburg W20, packed in small, smaler than A5 format box, actualy measured4x11x21cm. Omega Models and Mr. Jan Pala do the great job producing this kit. Beautifuly casted without any bubble , with great decal sheet for Losenge cammo scheme.
Only instruction is quite problematic, without exploded view, just few sheets of scale drawings, brief history and paint instructions.
Googling over the web, find some photos and usefull info about this small flying boat, which will help me in completing this model.

And some work was done, cleaning casting blocks and polishing some details,

Parts cleaned and test fitted,

Copper wire, 1 mm dia, used for horizontal-vertical tail joint,

Test fitted, just to feel the real plane shape, neat little flying boat,

Rotary engine and prop (photo out of focus, damn macro mode)

Tail struts supplied with kit are too short, new one made from styrene sheet (1mm,)

Its time for more pictures of this Brandenburg flying boat,

First, complex and problematic( lack of good photos and drawings, even on the internet), so, i do some research and use good drawings from 1/72 scale CMR kit of same plane.

Steel wire, styrene sprues,superglue and supplied resin parts, here is the few steps of engine pylon build,first made an construction jig on wooden plank,

Fuselage is primed with filler/primer spray and polished,

And wheel cart is made, nice etched wheels, "O-Ring"(rubber ring) for tires,

Superglued etched parts on rubber rings,

Cart base was made of styrene sheets,

And "Voila", fuselage seats on cart,

Also do some spraywork over the wings, not find exact FS for topside surfaces, and use some paint chips and colour profiles supplied within the kit , to mix my own Gray.
Anyway, on the wing topsides will go the Losenge decal, undersides are doped linen fabric, this will be easily mixed from some tan/white/lacquer.

Just a few bits on Brandenburg, finished cockpit,

and sprayed wing undersurfaces in Doped Linen -Fabric paint ,

Its time for decal job.
Hard work, Lozenge cammo, no room for mistake, only one set of decals.

I use PRONTO ( read FUTURE) as decal base coat, which gives me better adhesion on such large decal sheet.

Aileron decals are printed too small and in wrong shape, so i have to cut and apply each hexagonal segment from leftover decals to made decent aileron Lozenge camouflage.
Takes me few hours for this two ailerons.

Removing decal film from leading and trailing edges is easy using 800-1000 sand paper and carefully sanding the film on the wing edge.

And here is finished decal job, sealed with another coat of Pronto,resting overnight to dry .
Note, Iron Cross decals are printed on white decal film,and each cross must be carefully trimmed prior the transfer on the wings.

Just a short update of this model project, after the two days of Lozenge cammo decal left to dry , i trimmed and glued wing struts and do some wings rigging.

I use kit instruction, as well some web research for photos and drawings and became totaly confused with wing struts and rigging.
Only three real W20 were build, and looks that each have different struts/rigging configuration, so i stay with kit instruction data, despite 1/72 scale CMR kit instruction gives different diagram for rigging.

I made wing rigging with .35mm steel wire used for "Control Line"flying models, drill the ,5mm holes in the wings and superglued the wires .

There is no need to paint the wires, just clear cote to save it from rusting.
Need to paint wing struts, underwing pontoons in light gray cammo paint,

Pronto Cera Pavimenti is the "chemistry" used for decals and clear parts, similar to "Future".
I use this, old bottle
