Best Value Models: BVM35145 - V-4 "RHEINBOTE" Auf MEILLERWAGEN Among operational V weapons, there was a less known rocket, the Rh. Z.61 / 9 "Rheinbote" (messenger of the Rhine) or V4. Rheinmetall-Borsig was in charge of the development from 1942 to comply with the army ("Heereswaffenamt") request which asked for rockets of bombardment, filling the gap existing between the classic artillery and the rocket A-4 / V2; after trials in Poland, it was then used from November 1944. This 4 stages rocket carried a 40 kg payload, half of which only was explosive; it consumed solid propellants and was not guided. This missile is the first one with multiple stages in service during a war. In January 1945, sixty rockets were fired against Antwerp from launcher based on Meillerwagen trailer. The BVM kit includes the missile Rheinbote from Bronco and the trailer Meillerwagen from Takom, completed by a set of parts in resin and photoetched brass to make the launch ramp and its accessories. It can be assembled in firing position or transport. Additionally the trailer can be equipped with the wheels set from AZIMUT(35415) with tires showing " double cross " pattern typical of that used during wartime period.
